Performance and Reenactment, 2025
Münster Schilderwechsel, 50 Jahre Gebietsreform im Münsterland
Duration: Variable
The project “Aktion Bürgerwille neu” takes its starting point from the protest movement of the same name in 1974, which used manifestos and actions to oppose the planned regional reform in North Rhine-Westphalia. After researching archives, I recreated elements of the protests as performances in public spaces—as an echo into the present. On April 5, 2025, a VW Käfer drove through Hiltrup, covered with protest posters, calling for resistance via megaphone—a faithful reenactment based on historical events. In another performance in Münster, three performers repeated the seven theses of the ‘Aktion Bürgerwille’ movement over and over again for three hours, creating an echo effect. They wore T-shirts with the movement's historical logo: „Citizens define the boundaries of the community“.
